Introduction
Welcome to my pages on Vintage synthesizer restoration. On these pages I aim to have information on synthesizer restoration, links to parts, manuals, schematics and so on. I have been reading electronics sporadically since way back in the 90īs and I always was the kid who fixed my neighbors TV set or VCR. So naturally I started to open up my synthesizers as well and started investigating how these machines worked and what parts they used and so on. My interest in restoring these machines does not stop at getting them back to life, I also like to cosmetically enhance these instruments either back to their original state or to do some custom work on them.
Please feel free to contact me for any reason.
Due to many questions for restoration work I have put together this little FAQ :
Q: Where are you located ?
A: I am located in Sweden near Stockholm.
Q: Do you accept restoration work from the rest of the world ?
A: I can take on restoration work from abroad only if you are willing to pay for shipping back and forth. All parts and their shipping costs are to be paid by the client in advance.
Q: What guarantees do I have that my instrument will be as new ?
A: 100% restoration is not guaranteed nor can I guarantee 100% success in getting a synthesizer up and running again if it has been stored away in the attic or basement for too long or if the parts needed are long gone from the market.
Q: What is the time frame of restoration work ?
A: I do this on my free time, this is not what I do for a living. I work 37 Hrs a week within another field. The amount of time it takes to repair or restore an instrument is dependent on how broken or what shape it is in when left for restoration or repair.
Q: Do I get a warranty after my instrument has been restored or repaired ?
A: I can not leave any warranty that the musical equipment will run problem free for any amount of time. This is due to the nature of old electronics and other factors beyond my control.
Q: Do i get a quote on how much it will cost me ?
A: Yes, your instrument goes through testing and fault finding before the repair work begins. After this you get a quote on price for the parts needed and their shipping costs.
Q: What other fee's are involved ?
A: Shipping cost to me and back again and packaging materials.
Q: How much do you charge an hour ?
A: I usually do not charge per hour. I charge by how much work I have to do, not by how many hours it takes.
Q: Do you charge anything if you do not succeed in getting my instrument to work ?
A: Yes, the base fee for this is 30 Euro. This covers for the time I spend fault searching.
