Roland CR-78

Here are some images of my own CR-78. Mine is an older version, the old battery was still inside this one and it had managed to create some acid burn to the PCB. Now my CR does not have a battery installed in it, and quite frankly I do not see any reason to install a new one either.

Here is the bad guy, removing the acid from the board took a great deal of time. Removing it resulted in damages on the PCB so I was forced to do some by pass operations in my CR-78. It has come back to life now, and I installed a Kenton midi kit into this machine.

The battery is gone, leaving massive amount of damage to the PCB. The leaking had spread far away from the location of the battery. The wires you see in the right corner of the image had to be removed and re-soldered to other locations because the acid had damaged the PCB leads.

You are seeing the secondary side with its two twisted red leads. The installation manual for this kit was very badly written, I had to guess a lot of the time where exactly to insert the leads on the main PCB. But the Midikit works perfectly now.

... More pictures will eventually come up...
